Week 20 - Construction

De schachtbok van de steenkoolmijn te Zolder,
de laatste Belgische koolmijn.
Mijn man was een van de laatste mijnwerkers
toen de productie stopte in 1992.

Pink Purple

Rhododendrons achter in onze tuin ...
blauwe regen aan de voorkant van het huis,
moet regelmatig gesnoeid worden
om te voorkomen dat de dakgoot wordt beschadigd,
ik wou dat je de geurige bloemen kon ruiken ... :-)

Wisteria on the front of the house,
it needs regular pruning
to prevent it getting into guttering,
I wish you could smell the fragrant blooms ... :-)

Freckles

We waren van plan om de lavendelborder voor ons huis opnieuw te beplanten ...
Vorige week donderdag, zonnig en warm,
weg waren we naar 'kwekerij Bastin' in Nederland.
We kozen voor donker-violet 'Peter Pan'...

We planned redoing our lavender border in front of the house ...
Thursday last week, sunny and warm,
off we went to 'Bastin nursery' in the Netherlands.
We chose dark purple 'Peter Pan' ...



Terwijl we door de tuinen liepen,
zag ik een lieflijk viooltje
Viola sororia 'Freckles' - Spikkelviool
met hartvormig blad en parelwitte bloemen
met donkerblauwe vlekjes.

Op de plantenlabel stond :
'met vriendelijk verzoek om de sleutel van je tuinhek,
in het voorjaar komen we even langs met een fijn penseel
voor de donkerblauwe sproetjes'.
Hoe lief is dat ! :-)

While strolling through the gardens
I noticed a pretty violet
Viola sororia 'Freckles' - Woolly Violet
with heart-shaped leaves and pearly-white flowers,
each spotted and freckled with deep blue.

The plant label says :
'with kind request for your garden fence key,
in Spring we're passing by with a fine brush
to paint the deep blue freckles'.
How sweet is that ! :-)



Terug in België de stad in voor enkele boodschappen
en ... Luikse rijsttaart :-)
van bakkerij Depaifve
Eigenlijk heb ik niet graag rijsttaart
maar deze vind ik overheerlijk !

Back in Belgium into town for a few errands
and ... rice tart liégeois :-)

I actually don't like rice tart
but this one tastes heavenly !
